You Suck At Your Job: Part II

Skimming my Buddy List this relaxing Sunday afternoon, I ran across BFF Lynn’s status which includes a link to this video on social marketing. And it made me angry. For reasons I’d repeat, but I think I did a pretty good job of articulating them in this post, so I’ll just point you back at that. My favorite part is where the video portrays people in the 60s as watching Howdy Doody and then going to sleep to dream about the brands they’d seen advertised. Really? REALLY? I get that we live in an exciting time, and I get that technology provides ways to revolutionize communication. What I don’t get is the inability to feel good about ourselves without doing some reverse-Tom Brokaw shit and acting like the generation that came before were simpletons and sheep. We’re smart people doing smart things, and turning around and trashing our parents only makes us look small.
